NASPO Begins in 1947
After meeting informally to plan strategies ensuring state governments would receive a fair share of property distributed under the Surplus War Property Disposal Act of 1944, NASPO held its first meeting in Chicago on January 31 - February 1, 1947. George Cronin of Massachusetts was elected as NASPO's first president.
