Reporting to the Director – Procurement & Operations Planning will be responsible for managing buyers of raw materials, supplies, and packaging necessary to support the manufacturing operations of the company. Responsibilities will include maximizing relationships with suppliers, consolidating suppliers where appropriate to align with “Best in Class” vendors. Assist buyers in sourcing new raw materials, packaging and supplies when needed. Management of bid requests, assist in price negotiations. Will participate in special projects relating to these responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

1. Mentor and develop staff of buyers. Manage all aspects of the procurement process to ensure the best service, quality, and pricing for all materials.

2. Will provide recommendations and direction involving vendor contracts, terms, and delivery arrangements. Evaluate and recommend new or additional vendors based on the needs of the business or changing market conditions. Direct annual bids on certain categories to benchmark our pricing and/or look for new opportunities for cost savings.

3. Will act as key partner with R&D to source new materials according to R&D requirements, provide samples and assist in bench top testing. Will work closely with R&D to gain understanding of shelf-life requirements, important spec details, annual volumes and how these requirements align with potential suppliers.

4. Provide quarterly market updates to the Management team including cost savings projects, market conditions, supply chain challenges and opportunities.
