Piggyback computer deal gets council nod
$1.9 millon deal will bring more Wi-Fi to city, secure networks
Piggy-backing on a municipal government bid for CISCO computer will save the city as much as $400,000 while upgrading the city’s municipal computer network, councilors agreed.
The City Council voted to join a larger NASPO ValuePoint bid for CISCO computer infrastructure at a special meeting July 25. The city will pay $1,982,067.31 over three years without interest to upgrade its computer backbone, adding 113 network switches, 68 rugged industrial switches and gain 106 new Wi-Fi access points — 64 indoor and 42 outdoor — all of it CISCO-made equipment sold directly by the manufacturer.
